About the school
Wybourn Council School (as it was known) was opened on Thursday 3rd October 1929 by Alderman Harry Bolton J.P the Lord Mayor of the time. Built for the grand total of £30,473 by H teanby Ltd of Sheffield, it was originally a joint senior and junior school. There were 432 Junior school children and 380 senior children and the school was mixed. The headteacher of the senior school was Mr A.E. Linfoot and Mr A Siddall was headteacher of the junior school. Look out for an interview with Mrs Pauline Congo (one of the staff at our school) about her experiences at the school.
Now as the Community Primary School, it is a central part of the community. Working at the school are wonderful teachers, support workers and administrative staff who help us learn. There are also around 9 dinner time staff. We believe that our school is a no-hitting-school. We think racism is bad, it doesn't matter about the colour you are.
We have reception and years 1-6 ages 4-11. If a child is disobediant white, yellow and red cards will be issued. For children who work and behave well they will receive green cards, 10 green cards one prize. Here is one of our green card assemblies with all the children standing who had received 10 green cards.
